8. The dealer then flips the next three cards face up on the table. The term for these cards is "The Flop". These communal cards are used in combination, by the players, with the two pocket cards to form a poker hand.

9. Then another round of betting starts with the player to the left of the dealer.

10. When the betting has concluded, the dealer then burns another card and flips one more onto the table. Called the turn card, players can use this sixth card to form a five card poker hand.

11. At this time the player to the left of the dealer begins another round of betting. In some types of games, this is where the bet size can double.

12. The dealer then burns another card and places a final card face up on the table, called the river. Players now use any of the five cards on the table or the two cards in their pocket to form a five card poker hand.

13. Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, there is one final round of betting.

14. The players remaining in the game begin to reveal their hands starting with the player to the left of the last player to call. This is called the showdown.

15. The player showing the best hand wins! In some cases players will have equal hands forcing them to share the winnings. There is more on Split Hands and Who Wins further on.
